Ok here's the thing. My computer works fine, but I had my other computer break down in my studio, so I took this one. I get to the place, hook up everything, I get to the logon screen and the keyboard doesn't work. I have tried 3 other keyboards and different mice/keyboard combinations with no luck. The only place the keyboard works is the bios. After I got home with the computer, I hooked it up to my keyboard/mouse and it works with no problem.

While the keyboard doesn't work in the studio where I took my computer, the mouse works.

Anyone know what could be the problem? Thanks for any help.

Sounds like maybe power fluctuations? Have you tried different power plugs in the room? Are you using something different like a different power bar at the studio?
Try using the exact same things as at your home and see if that works.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Is the keyboard USB or PS/2 or ??

If it is USB, see if there is something like USB Legacy support setting in the BIOS. If it is PS/2, also look for PS/2 settings in the BIOS.

The keyboard I use that works is a PS2 and my mouse is usb. When I went to the studio, I tried different combinations and it didn't work. Also, there is nothing in the bios because I checked when I was there and it wan't working.

I can't get into safe mode... the keyboard works only at the beginning, but then when you suppose to to press f8 (i actually tried all the F's) it doesn't respond so I can't get into safe mode.

Have you tried what I suggested? If it works at home, it should work the same anywhere else. use EXACTLY the SAME connectors etc and see if that cures the problem.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

I took my keyboard and my power cord and everything worked fine. Guess I still don't know what the problem could be. I just have to take my keyboard along with my computer.

Thanks again for the replies...
