I have this ridiculous computer that I had to buy through school. Recently, I was using it and the LCD flickered and then stopped mid-flicker. The computer was frozen and I couldn't move the mouse or use the keyboard, so I just held the power button.

After that, it wouldn't do anything when pressing power. It's green power light would come on, but other than that there was no action. Not even an indication of POST.

I kept trying, and one time out of say, the 10 times I tried, I got two messages. One about a keyboard controller malfunction, and the other that said "Warning: No Interrupts from Timer 0."

Can someone tell me what that means??

The Help Desk here has had the computer in their hands for three days, and they have yet to figure out what is wrong.

I don't know if this Timer 0 thing is the extent of the issue, but I'd say it is part of it. Can someone tell me what it means?

It sounds like a motherboard hardware problem to me.

You are effectively screwed. Timer 0, and there are two of them, are timers incorporated into the chip set. They used to be separate chips on the motherboard but like a lot of other things, have been incorporated into the chip-set.

Timer 0 sends a periodic hardware interrupt to IRQ 0, the system interrupt. This interrupt controls, among other things, dynamic memory refresh. Without it nothing works. It is effectively the computers pacemaker.

A new motherboard is probably the only solution.

NO TIMER TICK INTERRUPT
Your timer chip can't get the interrupt controller to designate interrupt 0. Your motherboard will have to be replaced.

With this being a fact and you already have someone designated to play center and another to catch and hold the computer for a 3 point field goal attempt.

I would still try another keyboard before I kicked a field goal with that bast#rd.
