Specs: Windows XP
Hi, my computer couldn't detect the HD when connect to it, what should I do? how do I format it?

If BIOS does not detect the drive then you cannot format it.
Check & re-seat power & data cables. Try a different data cable. Try a different power connector. Does the drive spin up at all when system is booted?

If re-seating the cables doesn't help then see if you can slave the drive in another PC and check if it is seen.

I think the OP is talking about USB external HDD rather than internal HDD as per the Product info in his/her stat.

Look for the un-formatted drive in Disk Management. You can partition and format there. You may need to assign a drive letter. Good idea to leave a few or more unused letters in case you connect other storage devices later the external drive letter won't change.
