Subject: No fixed disk?????OS: 98SECPU/Ram: worthless |
Comment: Im trying to install windows 98se on a brand new hard drive, yes i know it needs to be formatted, and it is also hooked up correctly, and the bios is recognizing it. The jumper is also set correctly. But when i try to access fdisk through the boot disk it tells me there is no fixed disk, so when i try and use the windows 98se cd i get the same thing ? any suggestions? thank you

Reply: (edit)Are you sure that Fdisk is on the boot disk you are using. You need a floppy with Fdisk on it. When you have an A: prompt type Fdisk.

Reply: (edit)Hi not to sure with this. till the bios recongnizes the hdd correctly fdisk will have a problem. is the bios setup for hdd set for AUTO? if so may have to try setting it for user and put in the setors, cly, heads. if the comp is old the hdd may have to have a overlay program or the comps bios has to be updated. what is the size the bios sees?
