no fixed disk, after fixing new hdd

Specs: Windows Vista
I bought a 'new' hdd (320gb) and fixed it on my laptop (medion) 'No fixed disk' keep on appearing. I have checked everything checkable including the bios and no disk present keep on surfacing. The original size is just 80gb. What do I do, please help.

Were there any jumpers on the old drive? Are there jumpers on the new drive? If so, try setting it to "master."

Your laptop may not support a 320gb drive, not all do. Check the manufacturers site to see if it does.
