Can you get it to POST with the bare essentials?
ie; Processor, Motherboard, 1 stick of RAM, a video card, and power supply.

If so then add items back, one at the time untill you don't get a POST. That will be your bad hardware.

If it won't POST with the bare essentials then try a different stick of RAM, or a different video card.

It is still won't POST, then your bad hardware will be either the motherboard, power supply, or processor.

At least you will have narrowed it down to those three.

It is possible that when your friend was "nosing around" and wiggling things, he might have seated some memory or a card that you thought was seated properly but really wasn't....

Dave02, it will boot on the bare minumum *sometimes*. when it does, we usually go to the bios and set some things, then save. after it saves it wont boot. but usually we're happy because it actually showed something.
and tom, i HIGHLY doubt it because we also had a "professional" at a store look at it for a bit, because we didnt want to pay a 70 diagnostic test. He said that its probably the power supply, but i forgot to ask him what could be wrong with it. It's not too little power.. could it not be compatible with my AMD Athlon 2400+ or my ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe? I don't think its power because everything loads, and because my older computer setup was using ALOT of power.. all the power cables were in use except 2.
