Hi, This is my first post here, anyway, I've got a bit of a problem.

I have a custom built pc, it a year or two old and here are its specs:

AMD Athlon XP2000+
Gigabyte GA-7vkmp MB (via chipset)
1 gig PC2700 ram
Onboard Sound
ATI 7200 AGP Video card
Windows XP

Today I bought a new ATI Radeon 9550 video card, to finally replace my old 7200.
I uninstalled the old drivers and etc. and then put the 9550 in the 7200's place, but when I tried to boot, things went wrong. The computer powered on, and the cpu lights up, seemingly normally, but there is no display, and the system makes no beeps . I put the 7200 back in, and the computer works fine, then put the 9550 back in, and again, no display.

Any ideas appreciated,
Brandon

Hi,

Can you try the card in a different system? I've had a similar issue with an ATI card. For some reason, the particular card would not work in the system I was going to use it in, but it worked in every other system I tried it in.

What PSU do you have?

I tried the 9550 in another computer, and it booted up fine. I've got a 240 watt PSU in the computer I'm having difficulty, and a 250 in the other computer I tried the card in, so I don't think the PSU is the problem. It must be some conflict between my mb and the 9550, any ideas what it could be?

Thanks,
Brandon

I have no idea why, but I just put the 9550 back in the computer it wasn't working with, and it booted up fine. Maybe I didn't get it seated properly the few times before, weird though.

Thanks,
Brandon

After it booted I shut the computer down to put the screw in the card, and now it doesn't want to boot again, still puzzled.

Thanks,
Brandon

250 watts is marginal.

I figured out the problem, It's very picky and has to be in there just right, and every time I put the set screw in it was "listing" ever so slightly to one side, it would still look like it was seated, but really wasn't, I've never had such a picky combo before.
It's working perfectly fine now, and I think it was due to the slight list to one side.
However, I will think about upgrading the PSU.

Thanks again,
Brandon
