You can use Seagate SeaTools for DOS. Download it by clicking "Downloads" on this page: http://www.seagate.com/support/down...
Now download and install "IMGBurn" from here: http://filehippo.com/download_imgburn/
Use IMGBurn to create a CD from the ISO file you downloaded from Seagate.
Boot your laptop from that CD and SeaTools for DOS should eventually open.
Select your laptop's hard drive and run the "long" or "extended" test on it.
If it fails the test you will need to fit a new hard drive.
