Subject: No display on new computerOS: Windows XPCPU/Ram: amd 4200 x2/ corsair 2 gi |
Comment: Hey, I recently just built a new computer. The specs are AMD x2 4200 ATI x1900xt Sapphire Crossfire motherboard 2 Gigs Corsair Ram 250 HD 550 Watt power supply I got everything put together and when I plug everything up and turn it on I get no display on my monitor. I have tried everything I can think of. I have a power supply that supports PCIe cards so I have the 6 pin connector in the card. I have tried it in the master slot and the slave slot but it still wont work. I don't know what else to do so if anyone can help me it would be great. There is a 4 pin and 8 pin connection on my mobo. I think the 8 pin is for crossfire and my psu doesnt have an 8 pin connector, i do have a connector into the 4 pin however

Reply: (edit)This has been said 100's of times before, but you should ALWAYS benchtest a board before installing it in the case & hooking everything up! Now you don't have a clue as to what's causing the problem. Strip it down & start over. Leave the board, CPU w/HSF, ONE stick of RAM, video card, monitor, & keyboard connected. Remove and/or disconnect everything else. Double check that your case wiring is correct, then see if you can bootup & access the BIOS. If you can, great! Something you disconnected was screwing you up. If you can't, you ruled out all but a few possibilities. How about listing the make/model & specs on your 550W PSU...especially the amperage on the +12v line(s)?

Reply: (edit)Make sure that in the BIOS, you do not have the PCI video disabled. Also, if your mboard has an AGP slot, there is a pci slot that cannot be used for video, usually. Look in you Mboard manual to make sure. Hope this helps.

Reply: (edit)this may sound stupid... but did you check your mouse/keyboard inputs? Are they swithced around? Sometimes that will cause a blank screen. yiliboxer@aol.com
