I have a gateway flexatxstc bro essential 933c. I bought it from a friend. He told me that he installed nes video card and took it back out.Now it want show anything on the monitor when it is plugged into the computer. When I plug it into the back of the computer it the monitor goes to standby. And I have tried Gateway and they want help at all. It has a onboard video card built in. It has a intel pentium3 in it.

I have tried another working monitor and nothing from it. I have plugged speakers up to it and I don't hear any beeps.

Yes, sounds like the onboard Video is disabled. You need to reset the BIOS to its default state. There should be a jumper on the motherboard to allow you do this. Otherwise, take the battery out and leave it for 10 mins. That should force a reset as the CMOS setting will be lost. You should then have Video.
good luckStuart

I'd just like to add that after taking the already sound advise that you have already received i would be tempted to run the motherboard install cd because problems with video and sound at the same time are not common other than in the installation phase.

I will try the battery and I only have one jumper with 3 prongs on it it is set in the first two. what should I try with the cpu? And I don't get anything on the screen to get into Bios. I appreciate all the help. I am very disgusted with this computer already.

I tried all of that. And when I tried a different cpu the light on the front of the computer is green now. But I still have no video display. I tried the cpu in a different computer and it done the same thing with no display so it is bad.

I>> I only have one jumper with 3 prongs on it it is set in the first two. <<
That looks like the CMOS re-set jumper. Turn the compuer off. Remove the jumper and place it on the last two prongs. Leave it there for a few seconds and then replace it where it came from. Turn the computer back on and if it is the CMOS reset jumper, you will get video and a CMOS check sum error. You can then go into the BIOS setup screen.

I am having a similar problem with my custome made computer...I turn it on, and I don't get any display...I switched out the mobo for a brand new one, and that didn't do anything, I switched out the video card, that didn't work, changed the monitors too, that didn't work...

I am having the EXACT same problem as Sean.
I bought a custom made pc from someone, after a bout a month i decided to put in a cd burner...And i have changed CD-Roms and CDRWs in the past so its a piece of cake... anyways, i put it in , no problems, didnt take long at all.... then i hooked the pc back up.Booted... and i get the same as sean. I have plugged my other monitor into this pc, and on my monitor it says the monitor test and that the monitor works fine, i then switched video cards with my other pc that works, and i got video on both monitors. I put the video card from my good machine into the bad machine and i got the monitor test on both and it says the monitors fine.
To sum it all up,
My monitors work fine, My video cards work fine..... I boot up, i get no picture and u can hear the computer working.
My question is? Did i fry my mobo or do i need to try some things to get this goin, I really dont wanna buy a new mobo for this because it will probably cost more than what i paid for the machine. Or is there something i can try that will fix it?
I appreciate all the help i can get here.
