Hi,
Recently i tried to switch processors with my gateway athlon 1 ghz and my home built athlon 1.2 ghz. When i put the 1 ghz in the homebuilt machine, i got no monitor display, but continued to let it try to boot. After that, the machine started doing weird things like cutting off and on. When i put the 1.2 ghz in the gateway, it worked fine. It booted up into windows with no problems. But because the 1 ghz didnt work in my homebuilt, i was forced to put things back like they were. When i put my 1 ghz back into the gateway, i got no monitor display, just like i did when placing it in the homebuilt. I have tried many things such as switching out ram, changing video cards, switching monitors, but i still never get any display. WHAT IS WRONG?!?!

I believe that when you removed the 1 ghz cpu you must have inadvertantly fried it. I've had this same problem. A blank screen at startup probably means you'll have to buy a new processor.

I guarantee you didn't fry the processor, Either your homebuilt puter's MOBO won't support the 1.2, or you just need to reset your bios, to do this, either find the Bios reset pins on the MOBO and arc em with a piece of metal, OR find the battery on the board, it will say like .3v on it, Pop that outta the board, wait 30 seconds, put it back in, and try again, if that doesn't work, take the 1 ghz and use it to scratch your back, because that's about all it will be good for :D

ehh...tried resetting Bios already. :S Guess its just a new processor for me. :) thanks for the help guys.

I have the same problem but it's with a new motherboard.
I have a MSI 645 Ultra motherboard. Do not get any display from the computer.
The CPU fan and all the fans spin , and I can hear the hard drive been accessed but I still get no display. Please help if you can
