Everytime I boot up my system it comes up explorer.exe encountered a problem click ok to close and my desktop will not display or my start menu or anything-what can I do can this be fixed

Could be a computer virus. Try booting under safe mode(hit F8 repeatedly shortly after computer comes on and choose "safe mode"), and post back with results.
