A computer I built won't boot. It seems to get power to everything but just doesn't do anything after that. When I swapped the hard drives with another computer, still no boot, beeps or video. The other computer with the HD from the no boot comp got past the bios screen and then froze(a virus or dead HD?). The monitor its connected to is fine. The motherboard is brand new so that should not be the problem. The power supply is fairly new also. I guess all thats left is CPU, RAM, video card or hard drive. Anyone have any thoughts? Had anything similar to this before?

Windows XP Home
Soyo KT-600(i forget the entire name)
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
500watt power supply

First disconnect all drive cables from mobo.

I guess you have a pc speaker attached.

Power on and fell the CPU heat sink. If it's cold, you're probably down to CPU RAM or mobo.

Got one stick of memory or more?

Thanks mechanix, the heatsink is cold to the touch even after it is left on for a while. I could feel some warmth from the heatsink on the mobo. So I guess I will replace the CPU first and go from there.

If anyone else has any ideas for testing components, please let me know. Thx again
