i just bought a replacement board (biostar m6vlq)for an older presario that was misbehaving, and now i am getting the same results with this board. when it starts up, it just sits there, no boot, no post, no beeps. that is exactly what happened to the original board. the psu fan comes on and cpu fan comes on, leds light up, hd's power up, but that is in. if i short the power jumpers for 3 seconds, it powers off normally. i always start my boards up outside of the box to troubleshoot them rather than fighting cables etc, and i started this one up with a full load (256mb ram, celeron 1.2, 20bg w-d hd, ati rage). as it didnt want to boot, i stripped each piece off one at a time until it was just the motherboard and cpu fan and leds. same result. nada. this is the exact same case on both boards. what do you guys think? is it the board? ram? cpu? i checked pins, made sure the heatsink was seated flush. now i am out of ideas! any help?

Test ram and CPU in another system. If still no go, either a power supply problem or case (wiring, buttons, connectors).

Test the cpu in another computer that is known to work, if it does not work then the cpu is fried.

How many watts is your power supply? Check the label. Your Biostar Mobo requires a 250W or higher PWS. Check the jumpers on the mobo to make sure it is setup properly according to the FSB of your CPU.
