OS: windowsxp Version 2002
CPU/Ram: P4@2.66GHz/1G Buffalo 333
Comment:

Up until 3 weeks ago a custom cpu that i built was function perfectly for nearly 4 mo. Upon restart after changing some configurations for my network of 2 cpu's, at start no beeps, no video. On the last shutdown an error occured but the computer restarted before it could be read.

My Computer is a P4@2.66GHz on a Intel Desktop Board (D845GERG2), 1G Buffalo 333MHz ram, ATI 7200 Vid, 40Gig 7200rpm WD HD, and a Sparkle/Fortron 350W PS.

Recent additions to the cpu were a 80 Gig external WD Hd connected thru usb2.0. Maybe the last error could have been from not disconnecting the usb before restart, not sure. Since then no vid. no beeps at post. The lights for the HD and Floppy come on as normal. The green led on mb is lit. Everything sounds normal cept no beep no vid.

Here is what i've tried so far.
1)Reseating the AGP video, processor, ram and other connections including ps.
2)Removed AGP vid, tried boot w/ onboard vid.
3)Detached HD, Floppy, CD/RW, all PCI... Attempted boot
4)Duplicated 3 with AGP detached aswell
5)Attempted boot with one stick of 512 ram in alternating spots, and attempted boot with the other stick of 512 ram in alternating spots
6)Attmpted boot with no ram to see if beap error occured. Beep error occured which makes me think its not a MB problem.
7)Jumpers set to normal and troubleshoot, then config mode and troubleshoot
8)Battery removed for 30 mins and replaced
also a different working battery has been used.
9)The vid card functions and works in this computer and my roomates cpu.

The only other problems i've had originally with this computer... trouble getting ram to read at 333MHz... after about 4 boots after original assemble and changing bios settings it functioned at 333MHz which is acceptable on the mb. I've never been able to get two hard drives functioning at once with this MB. When two hd's are placed one as slave and one as master vid displays but windows never loads.

The real problem here is no video, no beeps at post. Can some experts out there help me, this is really frustrating to do orcad/pspice sims on this old junky cpu. Please read entire post of things i've tried before responding. Thanks

This is from a Boot Process document I have:
Don't know its source
3."The BIOS performs the power-on self test (POST)". If there are any fatal errors,
the boot process stops. If the computers speaker is functional , it will produce
a beeping sound.
Award Bios
1 long beep followed by continuous beeps ----- memory problems
Continuous beeps ----- memory problems /
video problems
If no beeps are heard & there is a dark screen, a bad video card should be suspected.----- Of course reading the first line, "the boot process stops on fatal errors" this line may not be accurate.
