After reinstalling Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron 9300 the battery is no longer recognized. The power icon in the tray shows ac power even when the laptop is not plugged in. BIOS shows no battery present. Power options/Properties/Advanced shows no battery present. It was present yesterday, in good shape. The battery would hold a charge for about an hour. The laptop will still run on battery power, but show as plugged in. I've tried unplugging the adapter and shutting down, then removing the battery and holding the power button down for 30 seconds to hopefully reset the system. That didn't work. I tried reinstalling the operating system from a backup image made last year. The battery problem remains. I'd sure appreciate some help with this. Thank you.
