I recently purchased the A7N8X-E Deluxe, but it doesnt support ATA 133 Harddrives, as advertised. The manual states support for ATA 100 only.
I haven't been able to find any info regarding this issue.
Has anyone else had this problem, or have the same board running an ATA 133 harddrive?

Return it to wherever you bought it and get somthimg else.
The website plainly says ATA133 but the quality, almost English support site has too many connections pending to download the manual.
Yet another reason to avoid AMD. The board Mfg's stink.

Thats rather a sweeping statement considering that every manufactures except Intel makes boards for AMD CPUs.
So what you are saying is the only decent motherboard manufacture is Intel.
The manufactures web site clearly stats ATA133.

I just looked at the manual for the A7N8X-E Deluxe board. The manual states this:
2 x UltraDMA 133/100/66/33The only drives that are all ATA133 are Maxtor ones. To support ATA133 a drive manufacturer has to pay a license to Maxtor. Of course ATA133 was mearly a marketing ploy by Maxtor. They run no faster than ATA100 drives. I have three ATA133 Maxtor drives and one ATA100 WDC drive. The ATA100 drive in benmarketing actually shows faster transfer rates.
I have the Asus A7N8X Deluxe board.
The ATA133 drives run at Ultra DMA Mode 6
The ATA100 drive runs at Ultra DMA Mode 5

If you're not happy, return/exchange it...
ATA133 doesn't give you any more performance than ATA100 anyway...& ATA100/133 gives only slightly better performance than ATA66

I was just wondering how much Intel pays you to post that nonsense here? Of all MBs to pick on. That particular board has been one of the most popular boards for months. Can't be too junky can it?

Oh yes, there paying handsomely
you figured me out.OK, you tell me then where the nonsense lies.
A board that does not perform as advertised or a Website that cannot forumlate a complete English sentence. How about a server that is not adequate to handle the customer load? Then there is the software and drivers they supply with the boards that won't work and then tells you so right in the manual. They can update the manual but not the driver CD??
Or how about calling them yourself, in person, and trying to get a little support. Ever done it? I have and I'm here to tell you it chokes.
I don't really care how popular somthing is. If they fail to meet generally acceptable business practices for both the end user and the builder then it stinks.
"Great... if everything goes fine" is not much of a line to build and sell products on.
I personally like a build to go smoothly, be stable once assembled, have support and warranty that is easily accesable and have software and drivers that are current.
These are the reasons I choose to build with Intel. It's not a personal smear or a paid advertisement, it's just how it is. That's all I'm saying.

As was stated, the board does support ATA133. The drive in the system isn't an ATA133 drive. You continually harp on the shortcomings of AMD. As was pointed out by others, virtually all MB makers build for both chip brands. Are you saying they do an inferior job on the ones they design to run AMD chips? I don't think so. What they do is make the boards feature rich and overclockable. When you do that you are bound to have more folks with problems. Its all about the total cost of ownership. If AMD were so bad why are they making such inroads into corporate america?

Well I must drop a word here! Been running this board now for about three weeks. Just installed two new 10000 rpm western digital sata drives on a raid 0. Has a gig of pc 3200 memory and a amd 3200+ processor. Video card is nvidia 5200fx with a msi dvd writer and an extra harddrive for backup. This computer screams! Apps open instantly! Video capture is a breeze! Installation of operating system was a snap. Only thing I dont like about it was the motherboard manual that came with the board. Very little information in it! Asus leaves you hanging on info. Board has nice features and I have yet to find a fault myself. I am satisfied! I must say I probably spend more time on a computer than your average guru though and building and setting up is a natural for me.
Roll with the changes! Lets Roll!

I've built quite a few systems with both Intel and AMD chips using an assortment of motherboards, including Intel and Asus. Asus is the only brand of board that I've used that has NOT given my any problems! In fact, my Intel (board & cpu) system that I currently use is unstable (randomly freezes). After swaping out all other components and reformating the system, I've narrowed the problem to either the board or cpu. To say or infer that Intel and only Intel can provide stable equipment is crazy. Intel does make good equipment, but so does Asus and AMD.

I neither said nor infered any such thing. I merely offered my opinion and then was pressed to back it up. So I did. Everything I said was 100% true from personal experience with them. Not opinion, not inference, but exactly what has happened when using Asus boards in the recent past.
If all your experiences have been great with Asus then fine, go with them. The posters obviously was not, and neither have mine been, so I advised him to go elsewhere.

You implied that all AMD boards stink. you never mentioned Asus, just AMD Thats what was being commented on.
The last time I had a PC with an Intel chip in that was an 8088 and I'm not complaining.

OK ok, my bad for this post...i didnt realize it was going to be a rip fest of manufacturers and their loyal customers.
What happened was i that i installed a maxtor 60 gig ATA133 HD in this board. after installation the HD stopped responding and also gave this clicking/ticking sound.
I opened the manual to page 2-19 and it only states UltraATA100, unlike in the specs section at the beginning. i jumped to conclusion that it wasnt supported.
I had no problems with this HD in the past...no errors or anything. I guess it was just strange that the HD went out at this time. And i was scared to install, and possibly lose, another HD.
I've have always been pleased with AMD and Asus. Great bang for the buck...unlike the over priced Intel. ;] but hey if spending more money makes you feel like have a great system more power to you. =P
