Hi I am not sure if I am posting this in the right area. My friend got me a MP3 player from Mexico & I tried to install the driver on my computer so I can put my music on it. Anyway, windows would not open the program the driver is....it asked me what I wanted to open the program with well stupid me I accidently opened it with Windows Media player....is there any way that I can download a driver or something that will make my mp3 player run. It is a Nina IP4 Mp3 Mp4 player. Anyone got any ideas? Apparently this thing was made in China.

"Anyway, windows would not open the program the driver is...."
I don't understand that.
With the player connected, do you see a drive letter for it in My Computer?

Well see I got the driver on a disc & I tried to install it but, windows would not open it up. It came up with a window saying that I needed to open the driver with a program anyway, a list popped up of programs that I have on my computer & i accidently clicked on Windows Media Player. Is there something I can do to run the driver on my computer?

For devices like you have, usually the manufacurer supplies a program (with an 'EXE' extension) that you run, and it installs the driver. If you double click on that program it should run and install the driver.
The fact that windows is aking for a program to open it indicates it is not the correct file that you are trying to run.
What files do you have? You should look for a file named 'Setup' or 'Install'. That's what they are usually named. Did you get a floppy diskette?
Did you check to see if there has been a new drive added in My Computer?
Maybe I assumed something that isn't correct. Is this a USB device?
I have to bow out. Maybe someone else will jump in and help.

This is one of the files on the disc that I got. But, it doesn't have anything on there that says setup. The file that is on the disc that got accidently changed was called StUmspdr. There are two other files on the disc that I have tried to open anyway it pops up saying this " Open with " click the program you want to use to open this file. Now I just want a driver that will work with this MP3 player does anyone know maybe a driver that will work with all mp3 players???????? I have another mp3 player & my driver for that one will not work with this new mp3 player that I have could someone please help me?????

Is your PC set up so you can see what the extension of a file is?
Also, in response 1, max00 asked if you can SEE the MP3 drive in my computer.
If so, have you tried right clicking on it and reformatting it?
I did that with a generic 2GB MP3 player.Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

hmmmm....that is questionable brighteyes:

It doesn't come up in my computer. When I connect it to the computer it comes up as new hardware found but, there is no program on the disc I have that can act as a driver so I'm screwed is there anything else I can do? Also I have another mp3 player that also came with the disc & I was able to get that one installed properly on my computer but, it keeps shorting out that is why I wanted to switch all my music to my new mp3 player is there something else that I can do?

Ok, what is the EXACT name on the player?
If we have that we may locate a driver for youHopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Response Number 2 you said you have the CD with the driver.
Pop the cd in, then open my computer
You should see the disc name on your CD drive. Right click on it and left click on explore. Then I would click on view and then click on list.
Look for something that says setup or install and double click on that. That should install your driver.Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Ok I will try that when I get home. I am at work right now. I'll give ya an update & let you know if that works. Thank you so much for all your help. =)

Ok I tried what you said & there is no set up on this disc nor install is there something else that I can do? There is a file on the disc that says driver for windows 98 but, nothing on that file says Install or Setup however there is a file that is called Stums.sys which is apparently a system file could that be the driver? An if so what the heck can I open this with because when I click on it it is asking me what I want to open the program with.

I'm at a loss, maybe someone else can help?
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

The driver is probably archived in a zip file. Did you try looking for a zip file? Also will this CD autorun. See if there is an "autorun.inf" file in the root of the cd. If so take the CD out, enable autorun, and put the cd back in. It should then execute a program that perhaps will help you.
To enable autorun on a CD open up "My Computer" and right click on the CD ROM drive icon (or equivalent) and choose Properties. In the Properties window you will see a "autoplay" tab. Go there.

Ok there is no zip file & I tried doing what you said but, that didn't work either....look is there a driver that I can download that will make this thing work because there is nothing on this disc that I can use as a driver nor anything that I can open.
