A NIC is a NIC and DSL is irrelevant. Most new cards will be compatible with Windows XP and they will tell you whether they are or aren't.

thanks,but are there any specific features on the card that make one better than the other.Any brand suggestions?This is for a home PC

You would want a 10/100 card probably, and DLink, Linksys are good brands. There are plenty of others though. Most other features are just optional stuff.
