I want to build a new system, and i hear the nforce4 boards are pretty good for gaming. Im prepared to sped up to $100 on a board, and im wondering, what would be the best nforce4 board i could get for this money. Id like it to have lan, 5.1 audio, and agp4x at least. I want to buy a celeron processor for it, and when i get the money, id like to swap he celeron chip with a p4 with hypertherading. Also, i want it to run decent new-ish games, and maybe FEAR, what graphics card would i need for this?? also, what type of RAM would the board support?? thanx in advance.

Celerons are not good for gaming...& the Athlon64 is better than the P4 for gaming. I suggest you get an Athlon64 3000+ Venice & a board based on the nForce4 Ultra...a good choice would be the DFI Infinity.

ASUS A7N8X-X
Athlon XP 1800+
8.5 x 200MHz
1024MB PC3200 2.5-3-3-7
Asus A9550GE/TD 128MB
WinME/WinXP Pro SP2

you want to game and you are buying a celeron. that is like buying a Corvette w/a four cylinder engine. Follow Jams post above and you might have trouble getting a high end gamer on a small budget.

LOL a corvette with a four cylinder. though, in the late 70s and early to mid 80s the corvettes V8s were very detuned (like 180-210hp from a 350 V8, what is up with that???)

anyway, an A64 is best for gaming. it depends on how serious of games you wish to play as far as the GFX card. 6600GT or 6800GT probably will suit your purposes.

by the way what will you do with the P3 system?

Never try to teach a hog to sing. It frustrates you and aggravates the hog.

Ill probably just give my p3 system to my cousin, or maybe ill keep it running during the night for downloading stuff, maybe run a dedicated server.
Why, would you like to buy it?

Is there any other AMD chip i could use? I hear you need a 64 bit version of windows xp to have an a64 chip, and i also hear thet XP64-bit is s---, but i could be mistaken.

My Rig:
1040Mhz Pentium 3 OC'd at 1.2Ghz

Intel 810 chipset
Onboard Graphics Not sure how many MB
128mb RAM
