Hi,
Anyone ever heard of any compatability issues with an nf7s v2.0 mobo and WD 10k Raptor SATA hard drives.....?
Im basically try to raid these two bad boys up but im getting no where...?
I go through all the procedure to install windows from a bootable cdrom (all raid/sata drivers are installed aswell).. after it formats and loads in the windows files the systyem needs to re-boot and when it does thats as far as i get...
It does'nt seem to want to boot from the hard drives so it can take the rest of the windows installation from the cdrom..??.. all im getting is a black screen .. it wont go no further than that....???

FYI... my mobo is on the original bios

Any advice is appreciated because im now running out of hair...!!!!

Did you change the BIOS 1st boot device from cd-rom to hdd immediately after the re-boot?

Boot order is this...
1st - floppy
2nd - cdrom
3rd - HDD

if you leave it as this you dont have to keep going into the bios to change boot order..

You have to select the raid option in your boot sequesnce at a certain point. Try 1st device cdrom, second raid. Let me know.

When WinXP boots the cd, it says PRESS F6 to load drivers for RAID device. You will need to put the drivers on a floppy and it will look for them. I have to do the same when installing Xp on a raid 0 array with IDE drives on a hardware raid card.

Otherwise it will continually reboot. Took me a few attempts to figure that out too!

And yes, mine loaded all the system files on the bottom of the blue screen, lots of different files loading up, then reboots. So try that.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your input in this matter....
I have now sorted my problem..
As said above.. i know all about pressing F6 to load sata/raid drivers.
I did some research on my motherboard in the bois updates and it turns out that on the original (1st) bois there was a problem where SATA drives wont boot unless the ps2 mouse is plugged in...!!! . (DOH..!!)
I run a USB mouse you see and without research i would never have found out this fault.

time for a bios upgrate i think..!!! lol..

I have to say that these 10k raptors really fly ..loaded win2000pro in 5 mins.. highly recommended..!!

cheers for all input guys ..its much appreciated..
