Have you tried plugging in an external keyboard into a USB port on your Nextbook? If it doesn't have any USB ports I'm afraid you can't use an external keyboard. An app of firmware update will not make any difference if your Nextbook does not have the right type of ports for an external keyboard or the Android OS does not support one.
If your Nextbook has bluetooth capabilities, you could use a bluetooth keyboard.
thank you and yes it does have a usb port i have a mini key board that plugs right in but no lights i.e led light up nor does the device recognize it in any way i went to key board settings and the only choice is the android my os is android 2.3 nextbook premium 7 there is no bluetooth on this tablet but thanks again for your response
