Hi,

I´m planning to buy a new system, to go from socket A and AGP to 939 and PCI-E...
I will buy an Athlon64 3700+ and a GF7900GTX,,
Now i have a few question about these new technologies; what exactly is 64-bit and what is the difference if i install winXP 32bit or 64bit?

I will be overclocking as well, got an A8N32-SLI and DDR500; So i know my CPU will use HTT.. what's that, and what do i do with this when OCing?

Thanks in advance.

No sense reinventing the wheel when the answers are readily available.

You realize that this is gonna cost you a small fortune, right? The video card alone is over $500.

You definitely need to do some reading on the Athlon64. It's different than any other CPU you've ever worked with before. The memory controller is on the CPU, not the motherboard, so it technically doesn't have a FSB...instead, it uses a HyperTransport bus that runs at 1000MHz (DDR2000). There are a lot more BIOS settings that have to be tweaked to get it to run properly & the overclocking process is much different than with the socket A. I suggest you get a DFI motherboard rather than the ASUS.

It doesn't matter if you use 32-bit or 64-bit Windows, however, driver support for WinXP64 is weak, personally I would avoid it.

Unless you read a LOT about overclocking you are going to burn some expensive stuff up FAST!
