Specs: Windows 7, celeron 1.6 1 gig
Hi
Am thinking of upgrading my system, have read that the intel core i5 750 chip is reasonablly priced & very clockable chip at the moment, & have seen a gigabyte Ga p55a-ud3 motherboard what do we think of these. Also can i ask if i put a pair of memory sticks in i understand they will be dual channel so will improve performance as long as they are in same colour slots if i then add another single stick in one of the other 2 slots will this improve its performance or nullify the dual channel performance. Thanks in advance

The i5 750 sells for about $200 & the board you mentioned goes for about $140. 4GB (2 x 2GB) of DDR3-1333 goes for about $90.

Dual means two, so if you want to enable dual channel mode, you need either two matched sticks or two matched pairs of RAM. Using either one stick or 3 sticks will cause the system to run in single channel mode. That particular board doesn't support triple channel mode.
