This has probably been asked a million times. But I have only been able to find adapters for using an old Ultra ATA drive on a newer CPU. Is there such a thing as an adapter to let me run one of the new DVD burners, which use the SATA interface on my old EIDE CPU? I am far from ready to update my system at this point, the economy being what it is. Sources would be appreciated and exactly what do I ask for? Also, price is a consideration. Thanks a lot!

Bob

Hi jefro. Thanks for the response, and I apologize for my slow reply. I've been busy setting up my ebay and Amazon sellers accounts. (FUN!!!) The unit you show is for an external drive and I'm looking at some internal drives. So, I need to keep checking , I guess. There HAS to be a simple solution out there. I hope.

Thanks.

You can buy an add in controller card. However, you can buy an IDE burner for the same money.

Look at the link below. Some are with free shipping. Some MAY have interchangeble front colors if needed.

Thank you, OtheHill! I searched Newegg for one but they didn't show one. I picked a neat LiteOn DVD burner with Lightscribe. I already have a Liteon CD burner, so I trust them. This is the best solution of all! That will hold me until I decide to build my next system. PC Pitstop says mine is now in the bottom 25%, after I did all the fixes! But, hey, it still works fine. Maybe in another year...

Thanks guys.

You are all the best!
