Hi all,

I ordered all new parts for my pc and at the moment only my ram has arrived.. so i'll have to wait for my other parts first, but i wanted to test my ram so i put it in my current setup:

AMD AthlonXP-Mobile 2500+
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe

My new ram is 2GB(2X1GB) OCZ GOLD PC4000...
So i first put both of them in,, and run them at 220MHz first.. well i crashed before i was in windows.. then i tried running them @ 200MHz.. also crashed right away...

So Then i removed one of them and ran a single stick @ 200MHz.. it was perfectly stable..
Then i Switched it with the one i just removed and that was also working fine on it's own...
So then i started raising my FSB... 230MHz seem to be the maximum stable ferq....
Since my RAM is able to run @ 250MHz i guess this barrier seem to be caused by the quality of my CPU/Mobo, right..?

So why can i only get one to work and not both of them in dual channel?? i know both sticks are working properly so why can't they run together?? ...I got latest BIOS, even downloaded a modded one but that doesn't seem to help...

Anyone can help me out..?

Thanks in advance.

I wouldent stress too much if I were you. Dual channel is a feature of the motherboard not the RAM so you wont have any problems on the new system (hopefully) Since you are putting it in the new system I wouldent bother trying to figure it out as it's gonna be more trouble and stress than its worth. Just leave it and wait for the new parts to arrive.

Thnx for the quick reply...

Well, got em both in @ single channel right now... 250MHz perfecly stable without a problem:) quess something's just wrong with the board's Dual Channel feature... But i heard AXP's don't have any performance boost if the RAM is run in Dual Channel anyway.. so I'll just go with it like this untill the rest of the parts dropes by:)

i previously had a asus A7V8X which i know is not exact same as yours (via instead of nforce chips). The handbook says that if using ram at 133mhz (ddr266/pc2100)) then all 3 slots can be used, if at 166mhz(ddd333/pc2700) then only 2 slots can be used and if at 200mhz(ddr400/pc3200) only one slot can be used. It does not say why or what would happen if more slots used. Perhaps your A7N8X has this same 'feature' as the A7V8X
