Hi,
My friends PSU blew some time ago so he got a new one (CoolerMaster Realpower 450Watt)
So we put it in, turn it on, checked voltages to be all ok, then booted up fine in windows...But then when we tried to view some pictures, the images had strange pink and green dots in them, when we move the mirror of the images there came all sorts of green and pink bars and a lot more dots, as if the videocard has gone bad... Later we tried the pictures again but it crashed while trying...
So suspecting the new PSU we removed it and put in an older PSU and booted up again which made the video abnormalities dissapear, putting the new PSU back in brought them back again so we again switched it with the older one and it was fine again...
So it appears the new PSU is bad, should we return it or is there anything else i can try?
Thanks in advance.

are you sure you made all connections neccessary, 2 that are sometimes missed are (but not all computers have these):
a square 4 pin plug into motherboard.
a power connector direct to graphics card. Also, you might have dislodged the graphics card slightly, remove it and refit it, to ensure good connection in slot.

"are you sure you made all connections neccessary"
Yes i'm pretty sure, the mobo doesnt use the P4 connection plug because it's AMD...
And the videocard is an old geforce FX5500 that doesn't use any power input. Also, i'm sure the videocard it fitted correctly and like i said, i switched PSUs 5 times now and this problem only occurs with the new one.
So i think i'll return it today and get a new one...
Thanks for all your help sofar.

"Plenty of AMD boards required the 4-pin P4 connection"
Jam, it's a Socket A Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe which has no 4-pin P4 plug, i recall you had one of these aswell.. You actually helped me building this system a few years ago...
