Comment:

I am building a new system.
I have a 400 W Power Supply ATX,
an MSI 745 Ultra Mother Board, and a case that was used for an ATI system prior.

I connected everything by the book and triple checked it, it will not power up at all.
I have two connectors I am not sure about on the P/S one 4 pin square and one 6 pin straight line. I have no place to connect them. I have another system that has a 4 pin not connected and it works fine.
Please help

Editing my prior message to add info:

I have an AMD 2200, it was a Combo Mother Board and CPU already installed with 256 DD RAM, I installed and additional 256 DDR.

A DVD Burner, a CD Burner, 2 Hard Drives a 30 and a 45 GB and a Floppy.
A network card and a GForce 440MX SE PCI graphics card.

I don't know if this helps any.

I also disconnected all the drives to see if it would power on, but still nothing. Like it is a dead P/S.

I would take out the xtra stick of Ram you installed, and only put one hardrive in, the video card, take out network card, use 1 cd rom to see if it will boot with those minimal settings. Make sure bios is set to load default settings. Try again.

If you are sure you have board and power supply hooked up correcly then you may want to try to switch power supplies.

If still no go you have bad motherboard or cpu.

If everything is connected then it could be dodgy PSU, or board. Would try a different PSU first.

just in case you were wondering, the 2 spare connectors you have nowhere to put are for the newer mobo's, I have this type of PSU and my connectors are left unused inside the case.
