Ok I have an HP pavilion and I got a new ati radeon 7000 pci version (I tested teh card on another machine). Ok I put the card in and it starts the POST test it shows that system speed ram and goes to initilizing the mouse and locks up. So I yank it out go into bios turn on board video off. Same thing locks up at same point. Bios has 3 options for video (diabled, 512k allocated, or 1mb) have tired all three no luck.
I was thinking of updating my bios but how do I do that?

Is your BIOS set to PCI Frist , this makes your system scan the PCI slot frist for a display adapter ! When installing a PCI graphicscard ATI on my newphews PC .It would not work ,same thing it would freeze up with a black screen . After changing the BIOS fronm the intergrated i810 display to PCI Frist it booted up.It was working and he was then able to play a game that would not run B/4 the installation !
