New PC won't boot

A few weeks ago I decided to build a new computer. I ordered a Pentium 2.4Ghz , an Albatron PX845E ProII motherboard that supported up to a 2.6Ghz pentium and a cheap Xabre 128mb video card. On the website I bought it from it said that the motherboard would support regular SDRAM. I didn't have the money to buy anything else at the time so I decided to use the ram I had from my old computer. I hooked everything up and the computer let out a terrible stench. It turned out that in the manual it said that the motherboard would only support ddr ram. I returned the motherboard and got a replacement. By that time I was able to get the money for the DDR ram. I ordered 256mb 333Mhz DDR ram. After I got it and the computer didn't work I looked through the book a bit more carefully and found that the motherboard only supported 200/266 Mhz ram. I returned the ram and got the right type. Now that I think I have everything I needed and it's all connected the computer won't boot. When I turn on the power switch in the back a red light turns on on the motherboard. Then when I press the Power button all the fans start including the one on the video card. The Hard drive and cdrom will not spin or get power to them when connected to the IDE but will when they are disconnected. Nothing appears on the monitor. I tried moving the Ram to different dimm slots and reseating the video card but nothing is working. I'm really starting to get aggrivated. Could you please help?
One other thing: I haven't been sleeping much lately so in my daze I may have missed some small piece of the puzzle and not have noticed.

What are the specs on your Power Supply?P4 ready?? Did you make sure to use the brass standoffs before attaching the board to the case? You might try setting up this board outside of the case to rule out any shorting.

Sounds like you've fried the motherboard. BTW, how did you manage to fit SD RAM into 184pin DDR SD RAM slots?

When you fried the motherboard you may have fried other things, like cpu, power supply, drives, etc. You are going to have to check each of the components.

On some if not all new mobos you have to change a jumper at the battery. If you did not reread the mobos manual. Also report back if you received any post beeps.
