"I did an external build and there was nothing"

By that do you mean benchtest? Unfortunately you didn't list your specs, but when benchtesting, all you need is the power supply, motherboard, CPU w/HSF, one stick RAM, graphics card (or onboard graphics), monitor, & keyboard. Nothing else. If you can't get that setup to boot & bring up a display, it's time to start troubleshooting. Do you have a decent quality power supply?

List everything, make and models, and if they are/were attached yet.

Is your motherboard resting on a non-conducting non-static material?
Do you have both power connectors to the motherboard connected? Auxiliary power connector for your graphics card (if it uses one) connected? CPU Heat Sink properly attached? CPU Fan plugged in?
Is there a motherboard speaker attached? Any beeps? How about if the hard drive is removed? Any beeps? How about if the memory is removed? Any beeps?

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
