I there i have a acer travelmate 2300 with 855gme motherboard and a 1.4ghz pentium m processor which i upgraded from a 1.3ghz celeron M i have also doubled the ram.
I like this laptop due to it large screen and considerably good battery life now it's got the pentium M in i get around 3-3.5 hours. However i want to upgrade my laptop as it is starting to lag. and i want better graphics. i noticed that the acer travelmate 2300,4000 and 4500 all share the same plastic i.e visually identical from the paint to the front mount buttons and ports all around. I have located the following boards ati radeon 9700 acer travelmate 2300 board, a intel 900gma travelmate 4550 and a travelmate 4000 ati radeon 9700 motherboard would i be able to do a straight swap from my board to the new board and will it fit?? don't worry i have pc2700 ram and a intel pentium m (dothan) 1.7ghz and intel pro wireless a/g minipci card on standby :P

If it don't work try hitting it, then if that doesn't work buy a new one :P

Ask yourself this...is what you're doing more cost effective than simply buying a new laptop/notebook that already has these features (plus a warranty) & selling the one you have?

Agree with jam. Furthermore, laptops are extremely proprietary, and each manufacturer even within models can do whatever they want. So while in appearance these models may look the same, they may not be. In conclusion, don't do it. After your efforts, things may not work well.
