New LCD cable caused Laptop white screen

Specs: Vista
I am in need of some assistance. I have just replaced an LCD cable on a 17inch Toshiba laptop. While troubleshooting, the screen went all white and has about a two inch line towards the left of the screen. I figured this was due to the cable and didn't worry. The problem now persists with a new cable in the unit.

I have already hooked it up to an external display and gotten a clear image.

I have attempted using an inverter from a 15inch laptop which yields the same results. I also attempted hooking the 15inch LCD itself up with both inverters to the 17inch cable and get the white screen, without the two inch line.

I attempted using the 17inch LCD and inverter on the 15inch unit that I have been using for test parts and get only a black screen. The 17inch inverter seems to be functional if I use it with the 15inch LCD on the 15inch setup.

I'm running out of things to try so as to narrow down where the problem lies. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can also provide the model number of the 17inch unit if anyone would like it. I just don't know how relevant it will be.

Thank you in advance for any help and suggestions anyone may come up with,
