I got a new laptop (well not new, refurbished) which infact is quite old. With all my other laptops, they connect straight away to the home network and they can use the net. But with this laptop, I had to define an IP address and it connects fine, but it wont make the internet gateway thing. I am using a DWL-2000AP+ D-Link Access Point to connnect, all other computers work fine with it. Any ideas on how to get the net working? It has SP2 installed too.

You would normally have to enter the gateway I.P address of the device (router) connecting to the internet, also you may need a DNS server John C

If a router you have is not providing DHCP service to that laptop, why not? Not enough addresses? In windows, you would enter the address of your router as the gateway and the DNS server(s).
