Specs: windows 8
Trying to plug in a oldish printer (hp photosmart c7280) with 2.0 cable into my dell inspiron 15R laptop with 3.0 port and it isn't being recognised. And apparently this should be possible?

NOTE: Do NOT connect the USB cable now. Wait until the on-screen instructions prompt you to connect it. HP recommends using a USB cable that is less than 3 m (10 ft) long. Turn on the printer.

Place the Printer Driver CD that came with the printer into the CD/DVD drive. During the installation, the Recommended type of installation allows you to take advantage of all your printer features.

When prompted connect the usb printer cable and turn on the printer and continue with the driver installation.

Go to the link below and download the drivers for your Windows version (Windows 8) and also any software to utilize the print, copy, scan features of that AIW unit.
