I just replaced the factory 30Gig HD with a new 80Gig Hitachi 7200. When I try to install XP I get a "no hard drive installed" error. I have installed drives in desktops without propblems. I checked bios for auto-detect. anyone have any ideas?

Did you set the jumper correctly? Each manufacturer has their own way to set them.

Your problem has nothing to do with jumpers, as all notebook hard drives come set for a single drive which is the norm. If you feel that the hard drive connection is good, I would check the manufacturer's website fore any BIOS updates. Often new BIOS's are for larger hard drives and newer processors.
