hi. my friend just bought a new 160gb hdd oem from newegg. hes using it as his second hdd. i put it in his computer and the bios seems to recognize it. then, he went into right clicking my computer > manage > disk managment > installed the new hdd > and then created a new partition of the entire hdd. NTFS, primary partition, not the active partition, etc. Then, he said when it finished formatting he got an error message saying something like it didnt format correctly or something (he didnt write it down exactly). So, it showed up in my computer, but when you double click it, it says it wasnt formatted or something like that and wouldn't let you go into it. He repeated the process, and the same thing happened. What is wrong? are we doing something wrong? One note, i didnt change the jumper on the back of the hdd when i installed it b/c the hdd didnt come w/ a manual and i didnt know if i should change it to and to what so is that the problem somehow? again the bios recognizes it and all 160gb's of it too. thanks for the help!

no, it has nothing to do w/ lba. i think i might have figured it out. Do you have to format it seperately after you partition the drive?

You have to format any drive to be able to see it in Windows, and that occurs after partitioning.
