This is a 2 part question. Part 1: I am installing a new Seagate 120 GB HDD into a small form factor. I want to have dual boot with 2000 PRO and Advanced Server, as well as an additional 2 partitions, one for MP3 and Digital Media, and the other for files and documents. It's my first time adding additional partitions to a new drive with the exception of making a dual boot. Need some assistance.

Part 2: After paritioning the HDD, will I will able to see and access the 2 additional partitions from either OS?

Ok this is pretty simple. If you've got third-party software like Powerquest Partition Magic and Powerquest BootMagic, it'll make it even more simple. I'm pretty sure the demos of these software will allow you to partition your hard drive. Basically you have have to do as follows.

1. Install Win2000
2. In Win2000 install Partion Magic or whatever software you choose to partition your HDD
3. Make one PRIMARY Partition
4. Boot onto the partion that you just made using BootMagic (or whichever way) and then install Advanced Server
5. Boot back into Win2000
6. Create 2 LOGICAL Partition, one each to store your MP3 and Digital Media.

Then you're done. The 2 Logical partitions you can access from either OS.

Thanks for info!! I do have Partition Magic, just haven't had the opportunity to use it. One last question. When I install Win2k Pro, it gives you the option to format the entire HDD or format an amount of your choice. Being that I will be using partition magic, should I format the enitre 120 GB HDD, and let Partition Magic do the rest?? Also I want to enusre that I also keep my OS files on separate partition, so it doesn't interfere with my other files as posted in my intial post.

Sorry about the late reply. Yeah let Win2k format the whole 120GB then let Partition Magic do the rest. As for the seperate OS files, they will be automatically seperate as they are on seperate partions. If you are in Win2k, you won't be able to see Advanced Server partions and vice-versa. From both OS though, you will be able to see the Logical partitions
