Trying to install completely new hard drive on master so i can reinstall windows xp. The hard drive is maxtor 7L 250gig and after correctly installing the hard drive the bios does not detect it. Even though i have not disconnected my cd and dvd drive they have became ATAPI not compatible and they do not come up on bios anymore. Can anyone help me here?

The BIOS on your motherboard may not be 48bit LBA compatible. What that means is it may not be able to properly configure a HD larger than 128GB. If this is the case you may be able to overcome this. Look here for further info: www.48bitlba.com/
