Comment: I've sen similar questions being answerd here, so here I go. I bought myself this 'puter and as it is the trend these days, all hardware is merged into the motherboard (on-board). So is my graphics card (SiS 740). Now I got me a better graphics card (NVidia geForce 4.20 MX), but when I install it, I get the PC speaker beeps and of course the system doesn't boot. I tried the card on another pc and it worked fine. There's an option in BIOS called 'graphics adapter' allowing you to choose between 'PCI' and 'AGP OnBoard'. Neither option solves the problem. I can't find any other options regarding the OnBoard Graphics card in the BIOS. Does anyone know how I can turn the OnBoard SiS off? The NVidia manual sais 'remove your current card' (where's my saw) and the motherboard manual doesn't mention any jumpers regarding the SiS... Anyone any idea where this jumper might be and how it should be set in order to disable the OnBoard? I've seen similar questions answered, but mostly by email so that doesn't really help me out. Thanx in advance!

Reply: (edit) When i installed a graphics card in my PC that had i810 onboard graphics , my BIOS also had no option to disable the onboard graphics .I disabled it in device manager under display adapters and system devices .Only disable , if you try remove , everytime you bootup the system will retect the onboard device and prompt you to reinstall it. Now you are running WindowsXP, Iam not real familar with that O/S , however does'nt have somekind of new hardware manager thingy ?

Reply: (edit)Nick is on the right path, you have to pull out your new card, boot the machine into XP, go into the device manager and disbable the onboard video card. THen shutdown, insert new vid card, boot her up and presto!

Reply: (edit)I tried disabling the OnBoard card in XP, but I still can't boot after inserting the new card; with the new card inserted I don't get any output except for the PC speaker beeps and the boot sequence halts... I may be wrong, but I really think I should disable the OnBoard card using certain jumpers or by a different assignment of the IRQ (which I can controll in the BIOS). I tried the PCI-option, Brian Rignall, it doesn't make any difference. Without the new card, it boots with the OnBoard, and with the new card, I get the error beeps and that's it...
