NEW computer keeps shutting itself down

Specs: Windows 7, I3/8GB
I just bought a custom built desktop computer from CompUSA. It has shut itself down for no reason 3 times on its first day (once was during Windows update and boy was Windows mad about that). I see nothing in the power settings that would shut it down. It has a 500W PSU, but the graphics card itself requires minimum 300W PSU and it has an I3 chip as well as a 1 TB hard drive. The ASUS motherboard has a super fan and the case is very open, so it looks like it should cool down very well. Should I take it back and say I think that the 500W PSU be underpowered or is there simply a defect someplace?

Send it back.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?
