Want to upgrade my computer by replacing my CD-ROM with a new CD-RW. After installing CD-RW my computer locks up after trying to play a music CD. I can load CD programs but I can't get it to play a music CD. I go into my CD player application under Accessories and press play resulting in my mouse pointer getting stuck. Always need to turn off/on the computer to reboot. My old (40x) CD-Rom works fine. Device manager recognizes new CD-RW by name without showing conflicts. Running Win 98SE with AMD 350mhz chip. Tried buying new CD-RW and same thing happens. Please help

Yes, I am using the same sound card cable from my CD-ROM (it works with that) to my sound card. All I am doing is changing out the cd-rom with the new cd-rw with the existing cables.

What model, cause some don't even support sound, thats why i have a burner and a cd rom in my computer, at the time i bought, it was not accessible. Check your box or call the company.
