I'm thinking of getting a new cd rw drive. I was wondering if there are particular specifications needed. I have an K7S5A Mother board. I have a slot ready for the drive. Im not sure if its ok to buy one. (the one i'm looking at is IDE) Will it be ok?

I recommend you get a drive that is on sale at your local Officemax or somewhere like that. There are drives that are $10 after rebates. For that price you can consider the drive a throwaway. Some things you don't want to skimp on quality, but CDRWs IMO aren't one of those things. I just got an IO Magic 8X DVD RW+- drive for $80 after rebate. I can't justify spending 2 to 3 times the money for what is considered a better drive. When it comes to cases, PS, Memory, HD, Vid card I go for quality, otherwise price is king.

OtheHILL, knows what he is talking about .I purchased an LG CD-RW 12x8x32x for only $65 ,it came with EasyCD Creator and I've been making copies of my music CD's without making one coster. Now when my kids are playing catch with the CD's my blood pressure stays normal! I put the originials awaay and use the back up copies ! Easy of use with the CD copier utility , or you can make a custom CD with your favorite songs by just dragging and dropping your selections. I installed the CD-RW as the master on the secondary IDE channel ,my DVD-ROM is the slave .My Hard Drive is the master on the primary IDE channel !
Good Luck Nick
