I just bought my first PC case/mobo. The case is ok but the manual is horrible and does not even list the parts. It is a coolermaster centurion 5 case. It has a small metal doughnut looking thing that I have no idea what it is for or where it goes. I think it is a spacer between the mobo and case but dont see where it would go. It is the perfect size to fit between the mobo and case. Any ideas?

Is it a smooth round, dark grey object? If so it may be a ferrite RF blocker, usually a cable (or cables) run through it to reduce the electromagnetic interference.

Thanks for the reply, you are probably right. Yes it is dark metalic looking, almost like lead from a pencil. Any idea what cables I should run throught it? USB? Audio? All of them? You should really see the manual for this case. It is like 50 pages long but only 6 pages are in (bad) english.

Those kooky Chinese actually wrote this in the manual:

"Centurion represents quality of Discipline, Honor, Integrity & Loyalty. Now you don't have to be a Ceasar to concord the digital world while feeling safe and proud... "

<SARCASM> Wow I feel so much better knowing that my case is such a magical entity that can do nothing but bring me long life, prosperity, and hapiness. I think a 3 year old manchurian candidate wrote that actually. Now maybe the manual could tell me something usefull instead of blowing smoke up my butt. (like what wires connect to what pins on the mobo). =) </SARCASM>

All your base are belong to us. Oh no they set us up the bomb.

RT,

Good call on the donut.

The Chinese guy who wrote that learned his "English" in Tokyo, where he was employed writing slogans for T-shirts and shoulder bags. As in"

"I am a happy elephant feed me well"

LOL

I think the wires going to the case front [LEDs RESET etc] often go through the donut.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

I would say run USB through it. If you can fit audio, do those too and finally the led wires if you have room.
