SGMCO October 26, 2012 at 19:37:30 Specs: Windows 7
New Build - i5 proc Gigabye GA-Z77-DS3H When starting the computer my CPU fan goes on for a few seconds then shuts off. My standard case fans turn off soon after and then start back. It seems to be stuck in some loop. If I plug the CPU fan into a system fan port it runs then everything goes off and restarts. Ideass?
Since we weren't leaning over your shoulder when you assembled this rig it isn't easy for us to identify what exactly might be wrong. Please tell us the full specs of the system including brand/model and detailed spec of the powersupply you are using. Is it new? What ram have you installed? Did you benchtest before assembling in the case? Are you using the onboard graphics or an add-in card? Did you apply appropriate thermal compound to the CPU/Heatsink?
Do not connect the CPU fan to anything other than the CPU FAN header on the motherboard. The BIOS will either detect no fan or will read it as faulty and will prevent booting to protect the CPU from damage
Thanks so much for your quick response. The problem was I had no memory in the machine since I was troubleshooting, Put memory in the machine and all seems to be running well. Installing OS as i type this. Thanks again!!!
