I have 2 partitions for my hard drive, after experiencing problems with my DVD Writer(like when copying files from a DVD to my hard drive for example makes watching shows on my computer at the same time too difficult because it slows it down and the time it takes to copy is also slower than normal, similar thing when writing to a DVD except the speed for writing is generally normal.) I had Nero 7 Ultra Enhanced installed but wasn't sure if it was causing the problem. So I installed a second Windows installation on my other partition without it and my DVD writer works fine on it. I removed Nero at one stage and got the DVD Writer working normally briefly but then I decided to installed Nero again(don't ask why, I was a fool) and now even though I've used the General Clean tool and removed the left over Nero folders and such the DVD Writer problem is still there. Any help would be much appreciated! Once I get this thing sorted out I can finally reformat my other partition and just have 1 Windows installation.

Nero has become overly bloated. The download of Nero 9 is almost 400MB. There are plenty of free programs available that work just as good & are only a few MB's in size.

Don't watch videos while ripping a DVD. Is your "2.00 gigahertz Intel" CPU a single or dual core? For better performance, add more RAM. 1GB - 256MB for video = 768MB for the OS.

The problem has now been resolved. However I would like to mention that while I agree the Nero packages are rather bloated(although I've usually only used v.7 and never 9) I didn't have problems with it making my DVD Writer run slower or slowing down other programs while using its burning features, etc.
