Well, something really bad has happend to my old HP 3100. A wire from the power connector to the CD-ROM drive came loose and made contact with the motherboard. As a result, the motherboard is fried.

Does any one know where to find a replacement motherboard for an Hewlett Packard Pavilion 3100 with Motherboard model P2000-R030? (I have the newer version of the 3100, the one with the 233MHZ processor upgrade)

I have looked all over the place and can't find a replacement. As far as I can tell the CPU is fine, so all I really need is a motherboard.

If there is no place to find that perticular motherboard model, I'm perfactly fine with putting a different brand/model in that could fit in the case and run on a power supply that puts out a max of 60watts.
(I could replace the power supply if I really have to)

It doesn't even have to come from the same company as the computer case. I just need a motherboard (with a cpu included preferabbly) that can fit in the case.

Help would be appreciated.

You might be able to find something here:

Stay away from SiS based boards. VIA (MVP3?) was the best for the socket 7, the Aladdin was a close 2nd.

i live in uk. a computer of that spec would cost about £10 pounds - about 15 us dollars. it would be easier to buy another computer.
with win98 you can swap you old hard drive into the new computer. the computer will go through a process of detecting new hardware and asking for the win98 disc to be inserted but it get there in the end and everything you had on it will still be there. (it's not that simple with win xp, but win98 has a distinct advantage over xp in this repscet)

Agreed, I have given up on getting any life back into that computer. I will try and convience my mom to buy a replacement off of ebay.

At least all the drives still work. I plan to gut the thing as soon as a replacement is acguired.

I hate WinXP, it's compatibility with older hardware and software sucks. And from the looks of it, Windows Vista is going to be worse.
