A few months ago my friend was reparing my computer for me and he somehow managed o put the heat sink on backwards. The CPU is a 700mhz Celeron. It wouldn't boot up past the initial BIOS check unitl I found out the problem and fixed it. So now it is on right and boots.
But over the past few months, since that happenned, my computer has been doing odd thigs that it has never done before. For instance the BIOS check at boot up takes longer and longer and now it takes about 4 times longer than it did before the incident. It has been taking longer and longer to show me my boot loader so I can boot into an OS. Also the video is all jiggly until it goes into an OS, once it does that the video is fine.
so is my CPU and/or motherboard dying? It would be nice to know. Also where can I find more information on this kind of thing?

What you can do... as a suggestion...
The Intel Celeron 800mhs is only $47.00 US currency now... you could buy a new one and test it out on your board...

During all this did you fool with the bios settings or restore factory defaults? If so you can try optimizing the bios again. You can also try downloading some kind of CPU diagnostic app like BurnInTest from http://www.passmark.com/ Good Luck.
