Need recommendations for a new Mobo, here is the criteria I need met:
Used for: Mostly gaming (Everquest, Darkage of Camelot, lots of other computer games)
Price: up to 150 dollars-ish
VIdeo Card: for time being Geforce2 but will be upgrading that to FX series of Geforce
Processor: Prefer AMD, and it be upgradable to XP series
Processor: either 1.2 AMD athlon or if it is a very good mobo, would consider upgrading to another AMD processor. I also have a AMD Athlon XP2400+ Processor Thoroughbred Core around here that can also use.
Memory: Prefer board that supports DDR (NOT SDram) maybe possibly even dual channel (but i am not experienced with dual channel)
Case: ATX case
OS: Windows XP
OnBoard LAN would be preferred
Saving money would be good so I do not necessarily need a lot of bells and whistles.
Thank you.... Please tell me why you would suggest the board that you do, ( and also I am new to this and hehe been absorbing so much puter lingo :P
Any other tips or suggestions for me would be appreciated.
I need a board that is stable, and would be good for gaming.
My second question is this:
This mobo: Biostar M7NCD Pro
here is a link: http://www.bjorn3d.com/_preview.php?articleID=288Can this board support just regular DDR PC3200 ram and not dual channel?

Any socket A system cannot take full advantage of dual channel, so all it really does is cost more & you'll see little or no benefit from it. This issue is covered extensively at Tom's Hardware. Single channel with PC3200 is the most cost effective way to go...either a board based on the nForce2 400 or the VIA KT600. The nForce is faster, but the KT600 is a close 2nd. You should be able to find a decent board for well under $100, unless you want one with all the extras

ah, good information. My other question is this then:
This mobo: Biostar M7NCD Pro

Built 4 units with the AK39N board. Has all the features you listed, very fast board and rock-stable. I suggest 333FSB, set your memory to "ultra" in the BIOS. $65, free shipping. If you want to go up to 400FSB, use the AN35N-ultra, also excellent, stable board. Both have excellent 5.1 sound, 6-channel surround. Comes with standard stereo/subwoofer on the board. However, be aware that to enable 6-channel surround sound, you will need an optional SPDIF jack with middle and rear speaker outlets. I don't know why Shuttle doesn't include one. They run about $20.

Unfortunately, I can't get to the site you posted right now.
Dual channel is built into the motherboard/chipset, not the memory modules. I believe that any dual channel board can also be run as single channel, it's just a matter of how the memory modules are installed. If you plan on running dual channel mode, it's best to buy a match pair of modules. This info is addressed in the two reviews from Tom's Hardware in my other post...
