Also if you switch mobo firt you will void warrenty and second you might have to install windows again and since HP only sends out recovery disk and not actually WINDOWS disk you might have some problems and have to buy a full windows version ~$100

well i need access to the agp aperature because bf2 isnt running good at all with it set to 64 and also i would like to overclock. My warranty has been up for a long time anyways. what does your computer do when you start it up with a new mobo? do you have to uninstall your old one before shutting down or somethin?

Are you still posting about the aperture setting? I think you've already been told that's not your problem.

The other guys bring up some very good points. 1st of all, it's very possible that your PSU is proprietary, so if you replace the board, you may have to replace the PSU. Another good point was about the restore disks. WinXP probably won't boot after the mobo swap, so you'll have to do a "repair install" at the very least, possibly a full format/install. If you have recovery disks, this won't be possible...you'll need to get a "real" copy of WinXP. And if I remember correctly from earlier posts, you don't have a very good video card either. So you're looking at a couple hundred dollars in upgrades just so you can play a game??

If you replace the motherboard you can take all your HP recovery software and junk it. Replacing the motherboard will make it obsolete and useless.

The above is not true if you use an HP replacement motherboard.

even then, he wouldn't be able to overclock.

what you should do is just go and get new parts to build a new pc, or take the game back and live with out it. those are gunna be some of ur best options.

but if you did want to get a new mobo, here is all that you will need.

1. the mobo
2. new psu
3. new copy of windows
4. optional- new videocard
5. if the mobo you pick out doesn't fit into ur hp case, you will need a new case.

i think you should jsut build a new compy.

my power supply and video card are both sufficient and good enough to run the game at med-high settings. Im just another victim of computer tweaking adiction and I buy stuff for no reason:D but this thread talked me out of it. someday when my computer is worthless i will give it to my grandma and build me a sweet computer. so ill talk to you all in a month:D j/k
